So I guess I should get back on board here. I have actually ran some since I last posted. Thais and I went out a couple of times while she was visiting. She ran 4 miles with me (yay) that is the furthest she has ever ran.
I am having issues with our weather and my schedule. Thankfully this census stuff is about done. But I managed to go out 3 times this week. Nothing great all in the 4 mile range but at least a little consistency. I think the longest run I've had since Salt Lake is around 6.5 so I do need to add some distance again. Goodness I sound like I am complaining. Weatherwise, I expect that mine is better than you Okies, but I agree with Kellen on the heat. I think that you have to acclimate somewhat to running in the heat when you are used to cooler weather.
Anyway, that is about it. Groovey shoes Kellen and Ashley. Right now, I think I will stick to my Brooks :)

Yeah, the heat here is starting to turn up. I ran yesterday for the first time in almost a week and a half. It was about 90 degrees w/about 50% humidity and I went around 12:30...probably not too smart. I only ran 3 miles. Thought I'd do 4, but by the third mile I was beginning to feel oogey. In fact I had to stop in the middle of it and stand in some shade for a couple of minutes. It will take a bit to acclimate to the heat (and it hasn't started getting really hot yet!). And I need to go either earlier or later in the day!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with Thais going 4 miles! That really feels like an accomplishment the first time you do it.
Way to go Thais! I've adopted a shirtless attire for the remainder of the summer (wait it's not really summer!). I think that if I want to get 10+ milers in I'm going to have to start waking up around dawn anyways (as to not steal time away from my girls). That should help with the heat. Thankfully there was a heavy rainstorm in the Edmond area last night and it wasn't too hot when I got my 5 miles in today. The shoes are still working well for Ashley and me, and she even ran the lat 1/4 of a 3.25 mile run barefoot today.
