Good week

I had a good week, running 22.5 miles in three days. Monday I ran 5, yesterday 7.5, and today I unknowingly celebrated National Running Day with 10 miles. I very briefly entertained getting a short run in tomorrow, but honestly, I'm tired. As far as pace goes, I ran my 10 miles in maybe 1:20. I didn't keep exact time, but I was gone from my apartment for less than an hour and a half. If I can maintain my pace I think I'm looking at a current 1/2 marathon time of about 1:45ish. May even be able to beat that if I continue at the current pace without any injuries and don't run a race until the fall.

Anyways, this week was my most intense to date. We'll see how tired I am at work this weekend and let my body tell me whether I should maintain that type of mileage or slowly build it. I feel good, but fatigued. Always hungry and a little sleepier than normal. Of course, my body isn't used to that weekly output quite yet.

  1. You're a maniac!! But I am totally impressed.

I have had people tell me that they are always hungry when they put in lots of miles. I know when Mason is in Cross Country he is always famished when he gets home and I would say wants meat (probably the protein).

  2. I, for better or worse, ran 2.5 miles today with Ashley. I didn't plan on it, but when she asked me if I wanted to go on a run I strapped my shoes on and hit the pavement with her. I struggled though. Could barely keep up with her, which is generally not a problem when we run together. So I nearly ran a marathon in four days!! Hope I'm not paying for it next week.

  3. Yeah, protein and carbohydrates. The body needs fuel! I'm impressed too Kellen. Just don't work yourself into any overuse injuries. The rule of thumb the "experts" give is to increase your mileage by 10%/week. I guess you've overshot that by a bit!

I only managed 4 on National Running Day...and had to really convince myself to go that last mile. It was one of those days when I just wasn't feeling it. Felt good after I got it done though.
